We really enjoyed the exhibit about the development of media and communications technology through the decades with samples of the cutting-edge items on the market at the time. There are military exhibits on the Civil War, World Wars I & II, etc. They have a nice collection of classic cars and early automotive memorabilia. A Native American gallery contained a huge collection of arrowheads and spear heads (we thought that Johnny Morris had every last one of those in his museums in MO!). There are skeletons of dinosaurs and other ancient creatures. The Discovery Center holds many fun and interesting things as well. The train depot, with several restored passenger train cars you can walk through, was nice to see one car invites you to sit in a comfy seat for a bit and listen to interesting and informative narration. Don’t miss the two short films shown there on Daniel Boone and the Westward expansion of our nation. There are good history exhibits in Liberty Hall, including beautiful reproductions of patriotic paintings. Freedom Square had interesting exhibits in several buildings. Also in that area is a large building with agriculture-themed exhibits. We really enjoyed their collection of old cabins and other buildings with authentic furnishings and artifacts. We began outdoors with Heritage Park, since it was due to storm soon.
